As a team leader, after mapping out a vision and surrounding yourself with a diverse team with complementary skills, it is critical to create trust. Trust can be generated through transparent communication and respectful team engagement. Encouraging all team members to speak up and contribute their ideas leads to greater creativity, accountability and loyalty. Human beings thrive on having a voice, being able to express their individual greatness, and knowing that they are adding value. When your team members thrive, your company thrives. When you provide a safe environment, candid and caring feedback, and opportunities for growth, your company will benefit from this.
A successful team doesn’t only share a vision and mission; it also shares power. It is key to give autonomy to the team members so they can feel empowered and take responsibility for the results they create.
