Kenyan Education Minister, George Magoha announced a blank year for students subsequent to the school lockdown endorsed in mid-March. This, three months after school resumption, due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Despite government’s initiative to provide school programs via the radio, television, and other virtual platforms, some students have been able to complete the syllabus using these resources, while others couldn’t due to limited access to the same.
Hence, the decision to declare this academic year blank. However, universities and colleges will be allowed to reopen should they meet government’s requirements.
